It's Saturday and Brooke is awake at the crack of dawn. Even as a teenager who likes to sleep late, she's too excited to sleep. Why? Because Saturday is riding day. Every person should find a passion...and Brooke has found hers at The Shea Center. The rest of the week may be filled with challenges--social challenges, schoolwork challenges, medical challenges--but when Saturday comes along, the smile on Brooke's face warms our hearts. Brooke feels comfortable at Shea Center more than any other place in the world. She has bonded with the awesome teachers, the generous volunteers, and of course, the gentle horses. She has become stronger physically and emotionally from her riding at Shea. She has built muscle and built confidence from riding. For a young lady who doesn’t say much, she can sure tell you a lot about her hour a week she spends at Shea. She wants to eventually be a volunteer herself and be a “horse trainer” when she grows up. It’s Saturday, 2 pm and
her lesson is over. What does Brooke ask? Mom, how many hours until I get to go riding again? Thank you, Shea Center, for giving Brooke something to dream about, smile about, and look forward to every week. Go Team Brooke!
