Share Amazing Abigail's Riding Adventures!
Hello! My name is Abigail. I have been riding at the Shea Center since I was 2 years old, and I am almost 8 years old now! I have a very rare malformation in my brain called schizencephaly! The doctors even say that my
brain looks different than anyone else's they have seen! I wanted to be one of a kind I guess! You may know me as the fashionista of the Shea center! I LOVE riding at the Shea Center! I have ridden so many different horses, and all of them are SO AMAZING! My therapists, teachers, and volunteers take such good care of me and are SO MUCH FUN! Even though riding isn't going to help me be able to walk, it still does amazing things for me. I haven't had to have botox injections in my legs for a whole year because my therapies and riding have kept my leg muscles from getting tighter. Believe me, not having 4 long needles stuck in my legs every 3 months is a BIG DEAL to me! I also love sharing about my riding at Shea at school, and all of my friends are SO IMPRESSED that I can ride a horse! I have been using an iPad at school to type words or sentences that are too hard for me to say, and it says it for me. I am crossing my fingers and hoping I can raise enough money to win the iPad this year, so I can use the communication program outside of school since I have SO MUCH to say and people that don't know me well have a little trouble understanding me! Well enough about me, this is really about the Shea Center. So, please support the Shea Center. Any amount helps! They do miraculous things for kids like me, and make it SO FUN I wish I could come EVERY DAY and ride my horse and see my friends! Thanks for everything Shea Center!
